We'll be visiting Cambodia and Thailand in January 2012 to serve and minister for three weeks. Currently, Burma is in a state of national collapse. Burma has the 12th largest military in the world (70,000 of which is estimated to be child soldiers) but has 0 (zero) military enemies! The government spends 70% of its budget on the military but only .04% on health care, giving it the second worst health care on the planet (190 out of 191). (Info from http://partnersworld.org, this is also the organization we'll be working with at the camp.) Between the military oppression, ethnic killing, and terrible health care many flee the country and end up in refugee camps. One of the largest is the Mae La camp on the Burma-Thailand border. This is where we will be serving! (More info about Mae La refugee camp http://asiabible.wordpress.com/mae-la-refugee-camp/). Next we will travel to work with a student program lead by a family missionary friend in another city in Thailand. We'll be hanging out with the students and helping spread the word about a large event they have during the summer. Our last stop will be the capitol of Cambodia (Phnom Penh). Jess has already served here twice. We will be working with her contacts from the hospital and a local church. We will be providing medical and general service in the hospital, orphanage, and rural, surrounding communities. Based on our estimates the trip will not cost more than $8000. This is a rough number for now but a detailed budget will be created as we receive more information. Let us know if you'd like to know more before donating to the trip. Otherwise, please give as you are lead and able. Your support will have an incredible impact on the locals we'll be serving!!! Donations can be made by clicking the image bellow! After the trip we'll be sending video and photos to all supporters so you can see, first hand, what you've acomplished!
Thank you so much and God bless! Lee and Jess |
